Baddour, Dempsey team up with AT&T to award a $5,000 grant to the Haverhill Boys and Girls Club
November 18, 2010 - As part of its continuing philanthropic investment to support educational advancement, AT&T teamed up with Senator Steven A. Baddour (D-Methuen) and Representative Brian S. Dempsey (D-Haverhill) today to announce a donation of $5,000 to the Haverhill Boys and Girls Club.
The grant will support the “Power Hour: Making Minutes Count” program, which is an after school program for children that provides homework assistance, tutoring, and computer access for research and technology skills development. Money will be used to provide Club professionals with the strategies, activities, resources and information to create an engaging atmosphere for Club members, encouraging them to become independent learners.
The Haverhill Boys and Girls Club has a lineup of tested and proven nationally recognized programs, including the Power Hour program, that teach young people the skill set they need to succeed in life. Beyond Education and Career Development, the Club also offers programs in, the Arts, Health and Life skills, Sports, Fitness, and Recreation, and Character and Leadership Development. The Haverhill branch supports more than 700 Club members.
The grant is part of AT&T’s ongoing efforts to support services that are proven to positively affect our nation’s youths. AT&T has continued to fund educational programs to produce a more prepared member of society.
Today’s announcement is part of AT&T’s Massachusetts educational investment strategy for 2010, which includes 15 organizations.
